Description

The archaic-style Enthroned Madonna and Child is certainly a work by BERNARDINO DI MARIOTTO from Perugia. This is the first work attributed to him during his long stay in the Marche region where he was active up to the first twenty years of the ‘500s, particularly in his workshop in San Severino Marche. The baby Jesus holds up a miniaturised copy of the Castle of Bastia, a village in the Fabriano area for which it was originally created. It bears an inscription: Belardinus de Perusia pinsit 1498. In the show case are two chalices of the XV century.
